Megaphone is an independent media platform that produces multimedia content covering local news. We publish analytical and critical pieces adapted to digital media.

Job Overview

Megaphone is looking for a reporter to produce text-based and video reports. The reporter will be responsible for covering events on the ground,  in addition to doing research and writing weekly video scripts.

Role and Responsibilities

• Pitching and producing reports across Lebanon
• Covering events on the ground, such as reporting news and developments, conducting interviews, etc.
• Fact-checking and cross-checking information.
• Reporting news as necessary, on tight deadlines
• Conducting phone and live interviews
• Coordinating daily production efforts (drafting, translation, design, publishing, and dissemination)
• Conducting research and writing texts for videos
• Copy editing of social media promotional content

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in journalism, media studies, political studies, economics, sociology, or any other social science or humanity.
• Excellent writing and speaking skills in both Arabic and English
• Experience in working on the ground and conducting interviews
• Experience in teamwork
• Knowledge of digital media
• Experience in copy editing, writing, and research.

Additional Qualifications

• Fluency in French is desirable
• 2 to 3 years of experience in news writing is highly desirable
• Proficiency in Google ecosystem, Trello, and, adobe creative suite is a plus
