وظيفة خالية: مطلوب خبير تقني للعمل مع Gate Lebanon

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening the resilience and peaceful coexistence of Lebanese and Syrian refugees through increased income generation in the agricultural and food production sectors”. As part of the BMZ-funded program by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, RET Germany, and GATE Lebanon.

GATE Lebanon is looking for a technical expert to train up to 200 fish farmers and 500 fish farm workers on improved fish-raising techniques, feeding, and disease control in Hermel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Topic 1: Introduction to aquaculture systems along with the different fish options to grow.
2. Topic 2: Household aquaculture systems and their importance to secure sustainable organic sources for fish products for the corresponding house owners
3. Topic 3: Growth cycle along with operation tips for the easiness of this growth
4. Topic 4: Feeding suitable for each fish category and the timeline for the production.
5. Topic 5: Monitoring of the system operations along with avoiding and specifying diseases.
6. Topic 6: Maintenance tips on top of the parameters that need to be continuously monitored (such as temperature, PH, TDS…).
7. Topic 7: Water treatment unit importance, monitoring, and maintenance to assure adequate performance.
8. Topic 8: Hygiene and Food safety requirements:
9. The expert will work with the beneficiaries on informing them of all the needed food safety norms, regulations, and hygiene standards to safely produce food. The topics that will be covered during the food safety and hygiene training part will be as below: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and its requirements.
10. The expert must prepare technical material for a brochure to be distributed later to the trainees, and another one about the nutritional value of trout fish consumption to be advertised on the street billboards.
11. Training will be in Arabic and the report to Gate Lebanon will be in English.
12. Training will be conducted in groups and on-farm visits with the coordination of Gate Lebanon team in the area.
13. With his/her offer, the expert must submit a training plan for each group (workers and fish farmers).
14. The expert must conduct visits to 2 fish farms where new fish varieties were introduced to be compared with the traditional varieties.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Marine Sciences, or equivalent.

• At least 5 years of experience in the fishery sector.

• Proficiency in English and Arabic is a must.

• Knowledge of the Hermel area and fish farming communities are highly valued.

Duration of training:

The training must finish within 4 months of the contract's signature date.
