ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Solidarités International (SI) is an international NGO working with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflicts, other man-made crises, and natural disasters. Specialized for more than 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, SI takes charge of emergency, early recovery, and reconstruction programs.

With respect for different cultures and close to the affected people, Solidarités International implements its programs by combining its organizational know-how and competencies with the skills and expertise of its employees and local managers.

 

Solidarités International's teams, made up of around 270 expatriates and nearly 2,200 local employees, are today present in 18 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Americas where they are particularly committed to fighting diseases related to unsafe water and poor hygiene conditions but also in the essential area of food security, livelihoods and basic assistance.

 

ABOUT THE JOB:

General objective:

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Managaer, the finance assistant supports the Finance Manager in the processing of all tasks relating to accounting and treasury.

The main challenges:

  • Understanding the organization mission and financial goals.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

  • Get familiar with the organization's financial systems
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders

 

Responsibilities and main activities:

Treasury / accounting / management

  • Establish a statement of needs for liquid assets in consultation with the finance manager.
  • Carry out withdrawals and payment of advances, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Keep the advance books and cash journal.
  • Record budget allocations and accounting codes of the expenses
  •  check that the supporting documents of any purchase file to make they complies with Solidarités International procedures.
  • Ensure that accounting documents are translated if necessary.
  • Check cash balances daily and report any discrepancies to the line manager.
  • Archive accounting documents in accordance with Solidarités International procedures, after a final check of supporting documentation
  • Ensure cash box security and confidentiality of information.
  • Manage the bank accounts and the bank reconciliation for the base.
  • participate in the Preparation of monthly closing, revision, and integrity of accounts for the base.
  • Supervise the voucherisation and archive of accounting records according to SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL procedures.
  • Participate in audits or any checks issued by partners or head office, at the base level.
  • Support the Finance manager with the VAT payment implementation at base level.
  • Support the Finance Manager in the correction of monthly accountancy checked by the coordination.

 

Team management

  • Train and support team members under his or her supervision (if any)
  • Ensure the minimal replacement of members of the admin services in case of absence (days of, sickness etc.)

 

Reporting / communication

  • Participate in supervision of regulations in effect.
  • Participate to the Admin Pack preparation.
  • Take part of the weekly meeting and report on a weekly basis to the Finance Manager

 

The above list is a non-exhaustive one, nor limitative. The Finance Assistant could be asked other responsibilities and tasks within the framework of his/her job on demand of the line manager.

YOUR PROFILE

 

Education and Experience

•     Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is preferred.

•     At least 1-2 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.

•     Experience working with budgets and financial reporting.

•     Knowledge of NGO accounting practices and compliance requirements.

 

Transferable skills

•     Excellent prioritization and organization skills.

•     Proactivity, flexibility, autonomy, pragmatism, solutions-oriented mindset.

•     Capacity to work under pressure and solve problems.

•     Good analytical and writing/editing skills.

•     Good communication and diplomatic skills.

•     Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other departments.

•     Good and proven writing and spoken Arabic & English are required.

 

SI WILL OFFER YOU

A salaried post:  1615 USD as a monthly basic salary

Vacation: 1.5 days/month
Social and medical coverage
